Ingredients

  • 1 kg All-Purpose Flour
  • 200 g Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 T Salt
  • 2 C Water Hot

Instructions

  • Mix shortening and flour with the palms of the hands.
  • Dilute the salt in the water and mix into the flour/shortening to form a dough – knead well
  • Let it rest for 30 minutes
  • Form 50g balls for small tortillas, 90g balls for large tortillas.
  • Heat dry (but well-seasoned) cast iron pan to medium heat
  • Spread with a rolling pin (or glass bottle, or taco press) and place in pan
  • Cook 2 minutes
  • Flip and cook 1 more minute
