Common excuses include: “It takes too long”, “It’s women’s work”, and “I hate doing dishes”. These are flawed perceptions so I suggest changing them. If we view time as money, then it is safe to say that if done properly you will expend fewer resources cooking than going out. A large portion of chefs are men and they are revered as masters of their craft. In terms of the dishes, they function as any other tool and putting them away is as important as getting them out. This too is a skill. Cooking, in its entirety, is a life skill and we should endeavor to be self-sufficient and less dependent on the world around us for such a fundamental skill.
